Nearby are the stunning beaches at Porthcurno, Porthchapel and Pedny. Suitable for all age groups, Pedny is a 20 minute walk over the cliff, and Porthcurno, a 5 minute drive away, is ideal for small children. A little further, but one of the finest beaches in the county, is Sennen cove, also one of the top surfing beaches.
Penzance is about 8 miles, and is a bustling town with edge of town supermarkets and in town everything from harbour front shops to galleries and a cinema. The nearest village is St Buryan (3 miles) with village shop, Post Office and pub. Nearer still Treen, 10 minutes walk, has a popular pub which does good food for all ages. There are numerous first class restaurants in the area.
For outdoor activities, we are in sight of the South West Coastal path, and in addition to the glorious scenery, there is angling at the cove and sea fishing and marine life sea trips from Penzance.
At Porthcurno there is the world famous Minack Theatre, built on the cliff, with performances from May to September. There is also the Cable and Wireless Museum, a highly popular tourist venture. Lands End is 5 miles away (a 2 1/2 hour coastal walk). If you have time you can take a day trip to The Scilly Isles by helicopter or by sea on the Scillonian. The Penlee Museum in Penzance always has a fine collection of Newlyn School paintings on display.
There are fabulous gardens to visit in the spring and early summer, full of famous Cornish camellias and rhododendrons: Trengwainton and Trewidden; Trebah on the Helford, and of course St Michael's Mount is a must at any time of the year.
The renowned Eden Project is an hour's drive but again it is a must if time permits.
