Spring/Summer

After a very cold winter, even extending to the first few weeks in March, when we had to scrape the windcreen of the car every morning, Easter brought some fine and sunny weather but it did not really warm up until late April because we had a north-east wind accompanying the sunshine. All the garden bulbs and shrubs were several weeks later than in our usual mild winters and we did not have home picked daffodils in the house until early March. Not unusually we are picking daffodils for Christmas! The east wind delayed the start of the mackerel fishing season. Anyway, we can put all that behind us as May was a glorious month although typically it looks as if half-term week and Bank Holiday will disappoint our visitors.

Briar Cottage now has Wifi broadband and a much larger fridge! We only have two weeks vacant between now and November so we are being kept busy on Fridays inside and out.
